iron man digital paintingby ~Egeer

Back in december I saw a preview for Iron Man. I thought it looked solid so I worked on a digital painting in Adobe Photoshop. I used the marketing photos of Iron Man that I found on the web to use as reference.
I did not trace the painting from the photo.
I start out with a quick sketch to get the proportions of Iron Man down. Than I concentrated on creating an accurate line drawing and adding solid black to create a direction of light. Once I was satisfied with the blocked in painting I start creating a grayscale painting by rendering the shape of the armor and adding more subtle details. once the black and white painting was finished I colorized the image.

This was the first super hero I attempted to paint.
